NotesRecorded at Carrick RSay
This is a continuation (side B) of NPS-JFC-E-009-02, a copy of a tape made for Archie, presumably Archie Dagg, one December in probably the mid-1960s from the internal context. The compiler/narrator is mentioned only as Dick [so not Reg Hall as suggested on 009-02] who plays button accordion, sometimes with a traditional Irish fiddler called Tim, who’s originally from Kilgarvan but now lives in the UK. Dick isn’t local as he refers to the Morpeth Rant as “one of your own Northumbrian tunes”. The compiler/narrator Dick clearly knows Archie well. The opening item is a continuation from 009-02 of a recording made in Bellingham, probably in someone’s house to judge from conversations and children in the background. There are at least two fiddlers present

Most of the recordings sound as though they were made in people’s houses. First item is described as being recorded at Bellingham, the second at Carrick, the fourth at Tim’s house and the fifth by inference at Dick’s home or studio.
Most tunes are named
Accordion could be either button or piano accordion

For most of this tape probably no commercial copyright issues as it all sounds like private recordings though it will depend on firm identification of the performers in case there are residual rights, apart from Sleepy Marlin, which may be a commercial recording – and potentially the identity of the compiler is relevant.

I will do a transcript. MD
